Dead Horse Bay

Today Nico and I finally made it to the mysterious, remote, forgotten by the gods' Dead Horse Bay, the very first landfill started by the Dutch, located in a bay at the end of Flatbush Av. in Brooklyn. Back in the days glue was produced using cartilage from old horses, whose bones were then discarded directly into the water (and from this barbarian habit comes the name "dead horse"bay). During the Industrial revolution many other items, mostly porcelain, pharmaceutical glass and miscellaneous ceramics, started to be dumped in the same bay, and for some reason, they survived up to nowadays, awakening the curiosity of blippers and vintage fanatics....some are in a good shape, other less.

The day was spent entirely observing all these finds as if they were part of some major treasure. Fascinating and unbelievable at once, since the spot where these treasures are to be found is very limited, probably because of the sea currents behavior there.

A gorgeous day today!

For the curious ones, more blips here
