Under Press-ure

I can explain....a crappy photograph but records the moment. The first day of our holiday in Portugal (myself and a couple, M & M, whose apartment we were going to be staying in), saw us arriving in Faro at about 9.30am. Hired a car and headed to Vila Real. There was to be a quick diversion to pick up an item of furniture, a press, in a town on the way.

The furniture turned out to be a bit larger than expected! The only way I could fit in was by squeezing under the press and laying flat out (in other words, flat back!). The man who packed up the car told us to go along the motorway so that we would not be stopped by the police, as we could have to pay 175 euro as a fine!

Law of attraction kicked in....we were stopped by the police on the motorway! After asking for papers re the goods and spotting my stretched out position, the policeman tried desperately to keep a straight face as he waved us on. Relief. We found out later that he was the tax police, not the traffic police, luckily.

I saw Vila Real from a unique angle as we arrived!
