Workhouse Infirmary
I'd like to say a big thankyou to everyone for all your comments and views on Barney yesterday, I'm overwhelmed. I never expected it.
Holywell Workhouse was built between 1838-40. It cost somewhere in the region of £6,200 and was to accomodate 400 inmates, there were different wings for the different classes of inmates, male/female, infirm/able bodied. This infirmary was built in 1913 and went on to be called the Lluesty Hosptial It has been unused for many years and today when I went to get petrol I noticed it was boarded up and there was a lot of actitivity and security on the gate.
Thought I best blip it as a record, its being sold off for redevelopment, Holywell's new hospital costing 11.4 Million Pounds opened last week.
Hope you all have a great long weekend
