War
Today I waged war against thistles -not a few- several wheelbarrow loads of them.
I have allowed them to take over my so-called allotment, much to the disgust of my fellow allotment holders.
I made the decision whilst on holiday last week in the Dales that I either spent today -all day- out there clearing it out or I throw in the towel and admit defeat.
I took quite a few photos of the day and the piles of thistles, nettles and general rubbish that I have removed, but on looking around I spied this beautiful poppy amidst the chamomile and poppy -self seeded- bed, see, there is merit to letting things go a bit wild.
I thought this photo fitting as I brought an end to my war against the thistle -sorry to you guys in Scotland, no offence, tis' a beautiful plant....but- and the emotional tie we have with the poppy.
We will remember them and thank them every day.
By the way, fiighting thistles is no easy task and I have to say....
OUCH!
