Fidra Lighthouse
This is a view of Fidra Lighthouse as seen through the trees of Fidra Links, one of the Archerfield golf courses. Although it's a links course this is one of the few views of the sea that you get, and even then it is pretty obscure. You can smell the sea breeze though .. as well as enjoying the impressive set up for golf!
The lighthouse was built in 1885 and automated in 1970. The island of Fidra is located northwest of North Berwick, and is said to be the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's book Treasure Island. Like the Bass Rock, it is an important nesting ground for seabirds.
