Epic sky

I haven't mentioned it here before, but last week I went to see "The Tree of Life", the latest movie by Terrence Malick, one of my favourite directors.

It's marvelous, beautiful Cinema, at the same time epic and intimate in scope.

I wouldn't recomend it to impacient people or to those who just want to be entertained for a couple of hours, but I'd say that this movie is an unique experience, unlike 99% of the stuff that shows up on movie theatres. If you see it, you might like it or not, but you can't accuse it of lack of ambition or of being predictable.

For those who haven't heard about it, here's a small (edited) description: "The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father. Jack finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick's signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.".

Here's the trailer. Check it out!
