Work in the Mast

Ages ago, sailing ships had masts with heights up to 60 mtrs. Working in the mast was routine. Nevertheless a lot of crewmembers were killed or drowned when falling down. Safety harnasses like we use now were not used. Now, even when working higher than 2 mtr above deck, it is a common safety rule to use a fall arrester like our second engineer is using here.
