Tephra cliffs

These cliffs are by the beach at Matata and are made of tephra (so says Dave who studied Earth Sciences).

This is on the road between Tauranga and Whakatane.

We got some food at a bakery as Dave suggested a picnic on the beach. By the time we got here it was drizzling so we sat in the car. 10 minutes later it was bucketing down!

Today poor Christchurch had another 5.5 quake. Everyone reported in OK.
