Australian Magpie

Hubby's surprise this morning was seeing the magpies right at our front door as if waiting to be greeted. Yesterday, two of them sat by me while I was doing some gardening. I didn't have to feed them to stay. Obviously, they have adapted well to human habitation.

Described as one of Australia's most accomplished songbirds, the Australian Magpie has an array of complex vocalisations and has served as our morning alarm clock though most of the time, we hear them in deep baritone. :)
