Words on the wall

The Cannogate Wall of the Scottish Parliament building has a series of quotations inscribed on it. They are all good - but this is one of my favourites. For me it sums up the relationship between art and life (and politics!)

Fletcher of Saltoun is also, of course, a personal hero. The sculptor Sandy Stoddart proposed a monument to him near the Parliament and I have a copy of his own drawing of what he envisaged. One day perhaps.
