Natural History
Ha ha! one of my colleagues nicknamed me "pebbles" for the day after I showed a few of them that I was on the world wide web (in name only)
I received another email from a geologist who has published a photo of my "scientifically valuable" pebble onto his academic website. I have not photographed it here, as it's full details, origin / age etc will hopefully be discovered when it goes under microscopic photography. Apparently it would be of interest to The Natural History Museum and the local musuem near to where I found it. I'd like to stress that I wasn't searching for anything unsusual the day I found it, I was just looking!
I have also been sent a university paper to read about the geology in the area I found it - I think that will have to wait until the weekend so I can take it all in. Isn't it good when you have something unusual happen in the middle of the working week to break it up.
In case your wondering I'm holding Sardonyx - much prettier than the one I found.
