Love hearts
Up at 6.45! We were planning to leave at 7.30 but getting 3 of us up and out (the bridegroom having broken with tradition and spent the night at the bride's house) and solving a problem with corsage pins meant we didn't leave till7.50 but we still arrived at the Office for Marriages in Putrajaya at 8.30 a.m.
Last night it was decided the dads would be the witnesses so the 'deli ticket' (3014) was acquired and the relative forms filled in. The bridal party was bride and her parents, 2 sisters and 2 friends, bridegroom and his parents. Lots of photos while we waited. Although it's a production line with your number called like Argos and there were many couples and families they do have flowers and flower arbours for photos, so it felt quite festive.
When it was G and W H's turn we were in room 3 and they took their vows to be married for life in front of the official and the certificate was signed. No wedding ring. Then he left and we took more photos - couch, flowers and artificial wedding cake in the room. I surprised myself and burst into tears - #1 son married and I'm a mother in law and I have a daughter at last!
More photos then off for brunch (it was only 9.30 a.m.!). Unfortunately we had an unplanned tour of Putrajaya (why are all invented capitals difficult to navigate, even with GPS?) as we tried to find the Pullman Hotel. We failed so defaulted to the Shangri- la and had food and present giving.
An afternoon spent recovering while G and W H went to buy the BBQ for tomorrow night will be topped off with us hosting a Chinese meal for both families.
Congratulations G and W H and a long and happy life together.
(Note - this is only part 1. The wedding celebration with Chinese customs, banquet, real cake, tartan, kilts, piper, dancing and, hopefully, ceilidh band is here in KL on 30th June 2012.)
