Funky trunks

On my way to work this morning, I spotted some unusually-attired trees in Leith Links. They seem to have been adorned with scarves of some kind. I can only assume this is in relation to some pagan ceremony, perhaps even witchcraft? Or even the handiwork of a flamboyant tree surgeon?

Who knows...

Resisting the temptation to phone the police, I took a photo and cycled on.
