Liquid lunch.....
Many of you won't be pleased with this image because it's 'bugs', but these ants circled around a dot of ant poison like piggies at a trough, was just too interesting.....
It's very hot in Florida right now, and we've had precious little rain. Many critters are fairly desperate for hydration, and these ants are no exception. So desperate that they'll sip at liquid poison bait thinking it's a lovely bit of sugar water. The two ants at the right edge of the paper seemed to be sentinels or front men of some sort as they didn't go anywhere, but stood still as if to guard. The other ants were lined up at the edge of the paper in twos and threes, as if waiting to take their turn at the bar. Every so often, several ants would leave the bait and head off to wherever they live.
I'm no killer, but ant infestations are no joke. Sometimes a judicious bit of poison does the trick. All my window- and door-sills are sprayed with a cinnamon oil repellent which works fine most of the time.
