Allotment Poppies

Still on the theme of flowers, I've been fascinated by people photographs of poppies recently - though I've added a filter to this one for effect.

We've now got our runner beans and courgettes planted out on the allotment and the showers of rain we've had today have, hopefully, helped them to get established (though they did get lots of water from the watering can too). The potatoes are coming along well and are developing some lovely pink flowers, though we've noticed that the potatoes on a neighbours allotment are beginning to have some leaf die-back and some of the plants are yellow, so the dreaded potato blight is probably encroaching! We know that it's endemic on the allotments. I've also managed to plant the cucumbers in the small lean-to greenhouse at the side of the house. I'm a little late this year. Tomatoes have still to go in, I'm waiting until the first truss has flowered before planting them out - so nearly there.
