Lunch is about to be served. It was fish... well, it is Friday. This Herring Gull brood hatched last weekend - quite late. Another nearby brood hatched about three weeks earlier, and accordingly, are substantially bigger.
They're nesting on a roof in Inverness's Longman industrial estate. As its close to the sea, the estate is like a mini seabird colony. There are large numbers of gulls, mainly Herring, but also some Common, and a few Lesser Black Backed Gulls about. Other birds encountered on the estate include: Oystercatchers; Ringed Plovers; Pigeons; and the odd visit by a Peregrine Falcon - usually after those Pigeons.
