Rose Festival Time
It's Rose Festival time in Portland, Oregon. It is a festival that has been going on since early in the 1900's. It is to honor the roses, of course, but has grown to encompass three parades, a queen and her court, a fun center with carnival rides and the military ships that come up the Columbia to dock along the wall in Portland. All sorts of whoop-di-do, don'tcha know..
Roses are behind schedule as is everything else growing in this region due to the cold spring we had. I went for a short neighborhood walk and saw mostly rose buds. This one was snuggled back in the greenery, but I decided I should have a rose up in honor of the festival.
