Gone Fishing

This is Free Fishing Weekend in Oregon. One weekend per year, anyone can fish without a license. Since I am from out of state and don't have an Oregon fishing license, I decided to take advantage of it and visit one of my old favorite fishing holes. I got distracted with gold panning and only ended up fishing for about an hour. I hadn't had any bites in that hour and had just decided to leave when my pole bent in half and almost went into the lake before I grabbed it up and reeled in a nice 18" rainbow trout. I wasn't really in the mood for a fish supper and it looked like it would survive, so I released it. A perfect day for me and not a bad day for the fish, all things considered.
