Swimming Against The Tide

Looking Down!

Well, what a day!

(I seem to be saying that rather a lot recently!)

We got up fairly early for a Saturday and had our pancake breakfast and made sure we were dressed since we were expecting visitors!

Our visitors arrived mid-morning - the lovely Theodora8 and her DS (Dear Son, not some kind of games console) were in the area and popped in for a cup of tea and to meet myself, Wonderspouse, the cats and the rats!

Theo was even lovelier in real life than on the internet - she's a great fun lady and wasn't the slightest bit phased by the amount of junk in our house - apparently she's not exactly a minimalist herself! :-) Her son was also lovely, and they seemed to enjoy their visit (albeit a whistlestop one) very much. It was fabulous to meet them! :-)

Then we went out to the butcher's to get meat for the weekend roast!

Then we headed off to Birmingham for the Welsh National Opera's production of Cosi Fan Tutte, which was excellent! I'm constantly amazed by Fiordiligi's part, which is an incredible vocal tour de force. It's also amazing just how different Cosi is from Figaro or Don Giovanni - it feels like it goes at a totally different pace to me. The staging and singing was great, and it was a fabulous evening out.

During the interval we looked down and saw the scene in the picture. The Wonderspouse wondered if he would be able to get a peanut into the ice cream of one of the people at the bottom. I pointed out that we didn't have any peanuts!

It was a great view though!

And then a very late night - by the time we were home and sorted it was 2 in the morning! Yikes!
