Through The Autism Lens

Dad (and Mom)

This is my Dad (and Mom) it's not very often he will let anyone take a picture of him, so this is a rare sight!

My Dad is my hero (as most Dad's are to their little boys) he is always there for me and my Mom. He is big and strong and tries not to let anything bother him. He puts me to bed every night, no matter how much of a busy day he's had or how tired he is. He takes me for walks up to the Clough just at the back of our house and he plays games with me on the Nintendo Wii. He's not very good at it though!

He looks after us when we are ill. Mom got really bad Flu in March and was laid up in bed for 10 days straight. Dad was there to look after me and to make sure Mom was okay. He cancelled all his plans for this weekend and will be staying home alone with me so Mom and Nana can go to Blackpool by themselves for a break. Dad paid. He didn't get Mom anything from him or me for their 7th Wedding Anniversary on the 2nd April and Mother's Day the day after, so he told Mom to book at her favourite hotel and go away for the weekend with Nana to make up for it.

Ever since I can remember my Dad has always been there, no matter what. Thick or thin he has stuck by us all and I KNOW he always will.

He never looks for praises, he's never one to boast. He just goes on quietly working, for those he loves the most. His dreams are seldom spoken, his wants are very few, and most of the time his worries, will go unspoken too. He's there.... A firm foundation, through all our storms of life. A sturdy hand to hold on to, in times of stress and strife. A true friend we can turn to, when times are good or bad. One of our greatest blessings, the man that we call Dad.
