Toad in a hole?

Actually, this toad managed to conceal himself very well in the minutes following my photographing him (her?), by burrowing under the dead leaves. I almost stood on him as I walked the delightful riverside path in Glen Massan, Argyll, this afternoon, as the clouds scudded by and the sun reassured us that it was still an occasional visitor.
