Art Deco city
We did an 'Deco Walk' around Napier today - fascinating! In 1931, there was a devastating earthquake and subsequent fire which destroyed most of the city. Rebuilding in the 30's resulted in some fine Art Deco & Art Nouveau architecture - Napier is now considered one of the finest examples of such in the world!
It was quite bizarre - like stepping back in time!
The blip was taken in the foyer of the Municipal Theatre.
It's my birthday today! My present is a ticket to the Jack Johnson concert tonight at the Church Winery here in Napier! YAY!
