Empty Nest

Remember this Des Res back in March? We went back today to see if Barn Owls had taken up residency, but sadly no. It still looks a good home, pleasant outlook with shady tree, but sadly doesn't look as if it has been used at all.
We wondered whether we were too late, but there was no sign of occupancy, no debris or bird pooh. It was the first year, so maybe the birds have to get used to it.

However, we did see some kestrals flying to and fro to a box in a conifer plantation and a curlew nesting in a field with sheep. One was on the nest and the other was on guard so hopefully the eggs will be safe.

A lovely sunny day, great to be out on the moors.
