Sundew!
A short evening walk on a part of the common I haven't visited for a while brought great rewards. Around the margins of one of the tiny pools in the boggy heath I found a small colony of tiny round-leaved sundew - a carniverous plant. Although its fairly common in many upland bogs it hasn't been recorded on lowland heath in this area for years. There are four or five tiny plants in this colony, none more than about 50mm across.
