Warthogs are so ugly, they're irresistible!

We went on a 2-night safari to stay on in a small lodgae about 4 hours' ride from the main ranch at Horizon. The horses that we took are kept overnight in a large temporary pen and these bristly characters turn up at feeding time to do their utmost to steal from the horses.

They'll wander under the horses, knock over the buckets, grab the food with their big clumsy snouts and snuffle as much as possible. They are just about fearless, and very persistent! My horse, Horatio (and perhaps the most beautiful and fun horse in the whole world!) got very upset by the potential loss of his dinner that he planted a well-aimed and iron-shod foot right between the eyes of this young male. Mr Hog stopped briefly . . . shook his head . . . and carried on!!
