Anticipation
Cherry Time
Robert Graves (1895 - 1985 / London / England)
Cherries of the night are riper
Than the cherries pluckt at noon
Gather to your fairy piper
When he pipes his magic tune:
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are sounder,
Mine are rounder,
Mine are sweeter
For the eater
Under the moon.
And you'll be fairies soon.
In the cherry pluckt at night,
With the dew of summer swelling,
There's a juice of pure delight,
Cool, dark, sweet, divinely smelling.
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are sounder,
Mine are rounder,
Mine are sweeter
For the eater
In the moonlight.
And you'll be fairies quite.
When I sound the fairy call,
Gather here in silent meeting,
Chin to knee on the orchard wall,
Cooled with dew and cherries eating.
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are sounder,
Mine are rounder,
Mine are sweeter.
For the eater
When the dews fall.
And you'll be fairies all.
I've had a couple of lucky photo related moments lately. This afternoon I have an interview scheduled with our little town paper. The kind folks at Blipcentral asked me a while ago if I would mind being interviewed about taking a photo a day and my upcoming 365th in early May. I agreed, filled out the proper interview forms and have waited for the local reporter to connect with the folks in Scotland(exciting in itself). That has happened and today is the day, 409 photos posted,no gaps, interview time.
The second bit of luck involves having a photo published in a magazine. I was contacted even longer ago about a photo an art editor from The Maine Magazine found on my flickr site. She asked via email to use it for a small fee, a photo credit and a hard copy of the magazine. Of course I said yes. The article with my road photo, taken just at the end of the lane to our summerhouse in Machiasport, Maine, is now available online. I'm waiting for the paper goods and to see my name in print! Peanuts to some, but not to me, I'm pretty excited, and the article is spot on, all our favorite haunts.
48 hours in Machias
A big bite
*Update...The interview was fun, she's was a young college student majoring in journalism and English, working as an intern at the paper. I bllthered on and she kept writing, we'll see.
For the Record,
This day came in clear and sunny, 64 degrees, 78% humidity, barometer, steady.
