Bringing Bacon

Since the little guy can't yet fly, the food has to come to it. Parent was patient until I backed off a safe distance.

EDIT Changed out my image. This is much more dramatic. The red-winged blackbirds nest in the tall grasses at water's edge. Hearing quite a commotion I grabbed the camera and recorded this chase. It wasn't until I viewed the images on screen that the crow appears to have an egg in its mouth. As I post this, the confrontation continues. Apparently the crow has discovered the nests
