Seaside holiday

We came to Whitby today for a short break away from the city and work thoughts. Never been here before. It's a charming mix of functioning fishing town and Victorian charm, the latter especially true of where we are staying, La Rosa Hotel, which could not be more up my street. Thoughtfully electic in furnishing throughout, and our room - La Sacre Coeur - complete with the kind of religious iconography I love. We have a view like the one in this photo, over the sea and it's just perfect. Breakfast comes in the morning in a picnic hamper delivered to your door. Cakes in the crazy Victoriana filled dining room are free (and glittery), and while you're eating them you can marvel at the vintage Butlin's flag with its famous words "Our true intent is all for your delight." It couldn't be more true here.
