Cool noon

Sticky day. The kind of day where I feel like my thoughts, my brain cells are sticking together. Even with the window next to my desk propped open with a dictionary and one of those huge, thick 'teach yourself something in IT' books (Access, in this case) to let the breeze in it felt stuffy.

So, come mid-day I sloped off for a wander planning to go through the Cathedral down to the river. For some reason the massive doors to the Cathedral were open - the first time I've seen that in all the years I've lived here - and standing on the step there the view up the length was totally unlike I've seen it before. The place seemed to be twice as long, twice as high. Probably seemed bigger because it was empty, I guess.

Pretty cool, actually, and the cloisters were downright chilly. Perfect. And I got rained on a bit as I walked back to work but it seemed to unstick my brain cells a bit.

Off for a beer with one of my chums from choir this evening. His surname is Coull ....
