Where did all the inspiration go?

I'm starting to feel that I have taken my photography as far as it can go without someone telling how to use my camera.
Over a year ago I bought a d40 with the kit lens and have loved it.
But I don't really know how to use it. I feel I should buy new lenses for it but I don't know anything about lenses. I think I should get an external flash but I don't know anything about them.
Fundamentally I've no idea how to take my photography anywhere else.

I'm beginning to feel that I need a course, a guru. Someone to tell me what else to do.
