Edinburgh castle

The reason we came over to the UK so early this year is because our youngest daughter Laura is on tour with her college choir, (the Choraliers from Miami University, Oxford Ohio) - visiting Scotland and Ireland. So today we drove up to Edinburgh together with Roger's parents. Laura is leaving the U.S. with her choir today, then they perform Wednesday evening in Haddington, and Thursday lunchtime in St. Giles Cathedral. We had a good drive up, in sunshine most of the way, arriving Edinburgh mid to late afternoon. After checking into our hotel, which was located near Holyrood Park, we went for a drive round the park, stopping at St. Margaret's Loch to admire the gorse-covered slopes and watch all the ducks and swans on the water, then we went into the city and went for a walk through Princes Street Gardens, where I took this shot of the castle. By then it was time to find somewhere to eat, then turn in for the night.

I see from my one year ago shot, we were in Florida last year at this time - a bit of a difference in climate and scenery!
