Peninsula Light

An Orchid by the roadside at Drumsmittal, on the Black Isle.

There were a few close together here, though this was the best, or least weather beaten. Spied them whilst cycling home on Tuesday evening, and was surprised. I've traveled this route for over ten years, and they were the first Orchids I've seen along the way. Perhaps something to do with the way the weather has been this year? An unusually warm and dry April, followed by a cool wet May. It may be that I just missed them in the past. The bend they were on, is at a brief level section of road before the steepest ascent of my journey, and I'm normally focused on taking a run at that hill!
