Empire Biscuits
Having spent all year teaching pupils about nutrition and healthy eating we're making biscuits as a treat this week.
I took a few pics of my offerings and had a bit of a giggle when the face recognition feature on my camera decided that it could see a face in a plate full of biscuits.
Hadn't realised that they were originally called German Biscuits until yesterday!
Our tried and tested recipe if you're interested:
50g margarine
2 x 15ml spoons (tablespoons) icing sugar
50g plain (all purpose) flour
1 x 15ml spoon custard powder
Cream margarine and sugar, then sift and beat in flour and custard powder. Roll out and cut out 8 medium sized biscuits. Bake in oven for 10 mins at 150C or Gas Mark 4. Sandwich together with jam and top with water icing and a 1/4 cherry.
