Black sand

This is a picture of a reef break I surfed today. The waves had diminished considerably by the time I was out of the water and finally got around to taking a photograph.

The various grasses on the dunes are looking very brown and sun bleached due to the drought we're experiencing. The forecast is for a dry April too. This is very unusual for Taranaki as we normally have a good supply of rain being based on the west coast.
