Chalk Art

Our five year-old neighbor Amaya came over this afternoon to see if we wanted to do a little chalk art. It has been a number of years since our own daughter hauled out the sidewalk chalk, so we jumped at the chance. I quickly ran out of beach items I was able to draw, a sun and a palm tree did me in, but my wife showed our young friend a thing or two about creating a beach scene, filling the walkway in front of our unit with umbrellas, beach chairs, birds, and fish. Of course, it was a Spanish lesson for us as Amaya talked about each item in her native language. Nothing like learning another language from a five year-old!
