A dog's life

This is Flame doing what Flame does so well. Sleep. He is one of two dogs that reside in our condo. He was dumped in our old neighborhood. It took me a week to gain his confidence in order to grab him. He had massive sores in his ears and ran like his hip was dislocated. I thought I would take him to our vet to put him down. Instead, we got the most expensive free dog I have ever owned. Years of ear treatment. Part of his had to be amputated. He had to be neutered. Steroid shots followed by steroid pills. He is our vet's favorite patient. But he is the most gentle dog I have ever had. Never bites. Sits on any lap that is offered. Licks any hand that is extended. Sleeps next to me for as long as I sit. So although he is expensive, I don't think anyone could buy him from me.
