Maple Coming Down
I chose this blip for today because I still feel the work of cutting up this tree in my elbows as I type. This species is very common here, and today I was told that it's a paper maple. But looking it up, I'm not so sure that I have a match. It was growing self-planted behind the bookstore where I'm reviving the back yard. My elbows would not be aching if I had used the proper tool to bring it down (I used an electric sawzall and some hand tools), but I don't care because idleness is my chief enemy now. Earnings and efficiency can both step aside. I was on a ladder when I took the shot and a large section of the tree had just fallen to the right, only to lean against an adjacent building. On Monday, a friend will come by with a truck and a chain saw, seeking and finding wood to burn next winter.
