...do the Duck...
Fishing today, the first dry Sunday for ages.
The fishing was ok but not brilliant, caught about a dozen.....but I was like the Bird Man of Alcatraz today.
A Chaffinch and a Robin kept swooping in to steal maggots, but they were way to quick to blip.
The wood pigeon made a lot of noise but never came down out of the tree.
But......this Mamma duck brought her single duckling round about every 20 minutes for the whole five hours. The duckling at one point hopped onto my boot, but Mamma would never get closer than two feet. They ate every visit...maggots.....sweet corn....bread.....pellets......hemp seed....anything and everything I had for bait.
So....no I didn't win the match....but it was wonderful to sit in a warm spot, catch the odd fish, have the banter with the boys and interact with these two.
Now Charlie is here for a visit....the Son and Heir's first Father's Day....I got a book off S&H and YH..." Babysitting George" the account of the last few months of the life of one of my sporting heroes...the late, great George Best.......40th Anniversary of The Old Grey Whistle Test cd off the Daughter and a very nice card from Charlie!
Just had dinner.....a beer and a cigar later tonight...and that'll be me made up.
