How can you fail at caramel shortcake????q

So we are entering the littlest person's first anniversary on the planet.

And that means more food. Sorry.

Tried my hand at caramel/millionaires shortcake.
The cake was short and the chocolate chocolate-y but the caramel was a bit over boiled and not the gooey concoction I wanted.

Oh well, pleased to say that the cakes disappeared yesterday.

I am such a bad baker. Nigella I am not. Oh well, better try again.
