Sunday Funday

Runner Up.

BJ and George (my future husband) hanging out with the kiddos at the orphanage.

Word to the wise: When attending church in Africa, aim for the early service. That one is much less likely to run into the next morning service. I briefly thought about that as I watched all the guys leave early in the morning.. but lethargy prevented me from actually doing anything about it. And we got the 2.5-3 hour service stretching into the heat of the day. It was pretty sweet though. Just the experience of it all. The singing and clapping and swaying and whatnot.

We had planned on heading to the orphanage in Kajo-Keji for the afternoon. There, I fell in love with a grumpy little boy named Mambo. Or Lambo. They aren't sure which one is his real name and he will respond to both. I finally got him to smile after I discovered his extremely ticklish knee. He was a little sweetheart.
I felt beyond guilty leaving after only about 45 minutes with the kids. Words cannot even describe what those sweet children must feel to have visitors that come and go all the time. Yet, you can still see joy in their eyes. Even Mambo's though he may try to hide it.

I am loving South Sudan more every minute.

Tomorrow is our first medical outreach in the somewhat nearby village of Sunyu.
