Putting up the pictures
Down to Out of the Blue in Leith to put up the pictures for our end of year exhibition. The work is a mixture of stuff from HND2 and BA. Those on the BA get four pictures each, while the HND people get two pictures, plus anyone with a competition winning or shortlisted image gets them up on the back wall as well. This year, with bigger classes, only the winners get full-size prints and the podium places are put together on one print, so I have four full-size pictures and two more smaller ones in the exhibition. As always with this sort of thing it took a lot longer than you'd think it should as the pictures were arranged and rearranged before the hanging could start. And then the tutors demonstrated how to put the pictures up and gave a graphic demonstration of what not to do - not moving the pictures on the other side of the panel out of the way while they screwed the frames in, causing four pictures to crash to the ground, damaging one frame and smashing the glass in another! And of course that was my set of images - typical! I spent hours in college getting them into the frames dust-free and then ended up putting a couple of prints into frames amidst the dust and bustle of the Drill Hall. Ah well, if that's all I have to worry about then life must be pretty good :-) The exhibition opening is tomorrow night - L will be able to make it as she isn't needed at rehearsals, and I am expecting a few other friends to show up. It's likely to be busy, with about fifty students across the two classes. Will have to go back when its quieter to have a proper look as the exhibition will stay up for a week or so.
I know it will come round in a few days anyway, but this was last year's exhibition
