Disaster
Six weeks ago I started to make wind chimes in pottery class. However, the clay was too damp so I gave up & wove the pieces into this basket. I didn't really like it too much but it kept me occupied for the duration of the class. The next week it worked on it a little more, I still didn't really like it but, left it to dry anyway. Four weeks ago it had dried completely & as I tidied it up to fire it had really grown on me. I added some texture to the weave and as I'd nearly finished disaster struck. I snapped off one of the edge pieces, then as I cursed myself, I snapped off another.
Luckily it was fixable. I mixed some vinegar with dry clay to make a glue & stuck the pieces back on. Success. Then I left it to be biscuit fired.
This week was the first class I've been to since then, but my basket had not been fired. the technician had left a note on it to say there was a crack in it & did I want it fired. I got the vinegar out again & made the repair then put it back on the shelf. Then disaster really happened, the whole basket split in two and was beyond repair.
