Out of reach

Sometimes thing can be out of reach - either just out of reach or well out of reach. Actually, the distance is irrelevant if you can see but cannot access. Could be that things are out of reach because they are put out of reach for us, or we ourselves cause them to be out of reach, or simply don't make the effort to overcome whatever is causing the thing we desire or need to be 'out of reach'.

So it was here in this deliberately darkened photo. The chain is really the purpose of the photo. It is obviously there to stop visitors from entering a part of the building. I don't know why visitors are discouraged from going there. There isn't a sign saying 'don't enter' but that message is more than implied. From the footsteps I saw on the floor some have simply crossed over to look. But everyone I saw kept behind the chain; and wondered what lay beyond, what words were displayed, what the view was like from the central chair, and so on. The chain isn't much of a barrier really. Quite restrained in fact. But it served as a lesson and reminder to me of how easily we allow barriers to be put in the way of something that should be freely and easily reached.

In case you are wondering - I respected the intention of the chain and stayed behind it and had to settle for my curiosity not being satisfied as to the words displayed in the book.
