The Path
I had to get up early today to take my mother-in-law to the doctor for a stress test. (Always keep the mom-in-law happy.) She was supposed to be dyed-and-out for 3 hours. A mile away was a wooded pathway at a local hospital. The 3 mile path had my name on it.
Five minutes in was a big geese family. 20 babies tied my all-time record of most goslings. Somebody call the Guinness Book. Looking down...a big green frog. 12-15 pictures of him, but if he can't sing like Kermit...no blip for Mr. Froggie.
Another five minutes...I'm on a bridge taking a picture of a turtle. A guy comes by wearing a pair of boxer shorts, and a pair of bright red slipper-socks. He also had a nice beer-gut, and 3-4 tattoos. I am thinking to myself..."Strange outfit for a walk." He says, "There can't be no fish in that pond." Absorbed in taking pictures... I forgot where I was. (A hospital.) 3 uniformed guards come running around the corner.(One is armed.) I point my index finger to the right...as if to say, "He went that-a-way." The man went peacefully with the 3 guards. Poor guy.
The people in the picture are also out for a walk. I saw their reflection first, and decided to keep my camera trained on the water. It was 3 mothers, and a wide assortment of kids. Perhaps 8-9 kids in all. The older ones were running ahead...so some of them didn't make my picture. They were having a grand time.
The kids saw turtles, geese, dragonflies, a big white egret, frogs, pretty flowers, and those huge white dandelions that you can "blow" the tops off.
STAGE LEFT- ENTER THE LOVABLE, BUT CROTCHETY OLD GUY....I give all the props in the world to those 3 mothers. They get a little exercise themselves, and they get their kids away from the TV, away from the computer(as I'm typing away), and away from the video games. GET AWAY FROM THE BOOB TUBE....AND GET OUT AND SEE THE REAL WORLD, AND ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS MA NATURE HAS TO OFFER!!! RIDE A BIKE...HIT A WHIFFLEBALL...KICK A DOG...BUT DO SOMETHING OUT-OF-DOORS!!!!
A nice walk. My favorite picture of the day was the dandelion tops, but I chose this one instead. Thanks for allowing me to vent. Maybe I should have had the stress test.
