Father's Day
My father and I went into Birmingham for a Father's Day lunch at the Malt House, which is beside the Birmingham Canal Navigation Main Line in Brindleyplace, and had an enjoyable walk in the sunshine along the towpath to the north, passing the entrance to the Oozells Street Loop which contains Sherborne Wharf and rejoins the canal at St Vincent St Bridge. Near there can be seen the ruins of The Fiddle & Bone (Flickr set), previously a well known music venue next door to some stables where the horses that hauled the barges were tended.
The boat seen here in Brindleyplace is the Euphrates Packet, which my father had a special interest in seeing, and is named after the original Euphrates Packet Boat Services.
