Solstice
Last year on this day - the Summer Solstice - I drove from England's Eastern cardinal point to the Western cardinal point to promote the launch of Get Back to Me.
The sunrise over the North Sea as viewed from Ness Point Lowestoft was thwarted by low grey cloud, and at Land's End the sunset was spoilt by Jeremy Clarkson and a thin line of cloud.
You can read about our Midsummer Madness jaunt here.
Incidentally the rock from Lowestoft was stale and soft - I didn't take it back!
Also incidentally, I saw a blip recently of John O' Groats with a comment of how awful it was, well Ness Point, Lowestoft is dire, and 'The Land's End Experience' is naff. Ardnamurchan Point, Scotland, which is the most westerly point of the British mainland, on the other hand, is absolutely delightful. and well worth the journey. A super visitor centre, a delightful lighthouse and a delicious cafe and gift shop.
This year I'm taking things easy by working flat out in the office, and planning a different trip.
