Ripening barley...

...is bloody boring to walk round all day. I've seen more of it today than anyone needs to.

Although this morning I had the diversion of walking round a field of rye. Interesting...especially when some of it was taller than me.

There were some nice old trees...

...and I found a cornflower and some corn spurrey...

...but the grasses are seeding and I had spiky sterile brome in my socks all day, to add to the nettle stings on my legs.

I can assure you that fieldwork's not always fun.

And neither's the journey up the A1 to get home.

I'm shattered.
