Canna Lily
I made the wrong decision. The yards needed mowing and I opted to do them today rather than yesterday. I woke to the smell of acrid smoke from the fires burning in Florida and instantly recognized my mistake.
It was hell out there. The temperature reached 96 degrees, although I wasn't out in that kind of heat but it was still hot. I did have the sense to rest a couple of times and drink lots of water.
When I had finished, my shirt couldn't have been wetter if I had stuck it in a bowl of water for 10 minutes.
It was about mid-afternoon when I suddenly felt that I had done too much. I had a headache, my back and legs ached, I felt clammy and it was hard to concentrate. I took Advil and drank more water. And I am here to tell the tale.
I thought it only fit and proper to show how yesterday's blip of the budding canna lily had developed. I know it is not the most imaginative or innovative shot but these flowers are so vivid and it made sense to show it in bloom, having whetted your appetites yesterday.
I cropped the image to give more prominence to the flower. It looked a bit lost in the original image and the backyard fence is not the most photogenic of fences. :-)
