High Stepping

I was planning on giving up bugs for awhile until I saw this delicate grasshopper in the new dahlia by the front door. Its graceful antennae are much much longer than the striped body, and the careful precise way it picks a path across the flower is so endearing. Oh dear, bug love again...

We are having the most glorious summer day: I actually got to wear shorts and sit out in the sun on a cushy chair and read for part of the afternoon. Well, actually what I did was sit out too long and get a sunburn on one round knee that was sticking out from under my book (Sing You Home, Jody Picoult's latest novel).
