Public Image

On the left is Øystein. He had a novel way of asking for money outside the Public Image Ltd gig at Rockefeller in Oslo. He had a sign saying "JOHN LYDON!" and bellowed "FUCK YOU SEX PISTOL!" to anyone who passed by. We admired his style and gave him some money, which he was reluctant to accept at first. In the end he admitted he wasn't sure if he would spend it on a ticket to the show or some heroin. He was still there an hour later after we'd gone for drinks, so he didn't have the perpetual hunger of the chronic junkie. I hope he never develops it.
On the right is John Lydon in action at Rockefeller. I saw PiL in Bingley, West Yorkshire nine months ago and was amazed by their set, but this one in Oslo was even better - right up there with the best gigs I've ever seen. "Death Disco" was utterly devastating and "Religion" was as scathing as the day it was recorded. Lydon's performance was nothing short of heroic.
